Math Monday: Addition

Two fish plus one fish
equals three fish
Two apples plus four apples equals a half dozen.
Zero spoons plus a spoon gives you one.
Eight glazed donuts plus four lemon-filled ones equals twelve sweet treats.
Five softball players and two swimmers is seven athletes.
Three giddy monkeys join six giddy  monkeys to make nine.
Two pine trees are planted by two more to make four that are pine.
Ten veggies are one ear of corn plus two zucchinis plus three potatoes and four carrots.
At the zoo, one exhibit has two and another has three to be five parrots.
Adding is important in many ways.
It is used to pay bills some days;
To account for others' pocket books;
To complete recipes made by cooks.
To count change for store items that are cheap;
To count sheep when you go to sleep.
